Who are your favorite martial arts stars?

Are they the same as mine?

In this article you will discover my three all time favorite martial arts celebrities.

You'll notice that all of my choices are mainstream and they are “old'' martial arts action heroes. It’s because I don't watch a lot of movies these days and don't know who the new martial arts stars are.

Bruce Lee

Almost everyone on the planet has heard of Bruce Lee.

There’s no way I could leave him off my list so I figured I’d just get him out of the way first up.

He was and continues to be one of the best martial arts action stars of all time. He only made a few films, yet he is still remembered today, despite the fact that he died in the 1970s.

He was a hard worker, a great fighter, and paved the way for many of your favorite martial arts stars today.

Jet Li

I really enjoyed Jet Li’s ‘epic’ films, even though some of them go for 3+ hours.

He has a good mix of movies. In some of them he does very traditional Kung Fu, and others he has more realistic ‘street fighting’ scenarios, such as being a secret agent.

He is really quick, which I guess is where he gets the name “Jet” from.

Bolo Yeung

Bolo Yeung is one martial arts star you may not have heard of, though he is in a bunch of movies, so if you're into martial arts movies, you'll probably recognize him.

He is almost always the film's antagonist. I don’t think I’ve ever seen him play the good guy.

I saw him for the first time in a Bruce Lee film. He's bald and built well. I think of him as China's Arnold Schwarzenegger.

He was also in “Best of the Best”, another classic martial arts movie. I think he kills someone in it, just with pure strength.

Conclusion

There are many great martial arts stars, these are my three favorites.

I think Jackie Chan also deserves a spot. I really loved his old stuff, but I kind of lost interest after ‘Rumble in the Bronx’.

Watching martial arts stars jump around and do all their fancy moves is great for entertainment, but don’t get fooled. It’s just entertainment. While many of them can fight really well, most of what they show in the movies is not realistic.
