Mixed martial arts is the best martial art to learn for self-defense.
Many individuals may think that this is not practical, but it is.
This is a combination of Brazilian jiujitsu and Muay Thai that focuses on pure striking and is excellent for fitness. The only disadvantage is that there are no ground aspect techniques, but because it is a mixture of several types of martial arts, you gain expertise in fighting from various perspectives.
Lastly, training in self-defense frequently improves your ability and teaches you different techniques that may be employed on a daily basis, as well as your training routine.
