Parkour is a great way to keep fit, but it’s not the only thing you should do.

In this article, you will discover some alternative training to supplement and improve your parkour!

Sprinting

Sprinting and jogging are two ‘running’ exercises that can help you get in shape, but their execution differs.

Sprinting is much more cardio intensive than jogging which gives a greater benefit in a shorter time. It is also more likely to be used when escaping someone, so it is preferred in the Survival Fitness Plan.

In parkour, sprinting is used to gain momentum before performing various techniques.

When doing sprint training, it is good practice to do it in intervals that mix sprinting with jogging. A basic example of this would be to sprint for a certain amount of time, e.g, 20 seconds, and then jog for the same. Continue to alternate in this way.

Bodyweight Strength Training

Muscle strength is essential in parkour because you use your entire body to perform techniques effectively.

Bodyweight exercises are beneficial because they increase stamina and muscle mass, which keeps you fit and healthy.

Training is simple because you can do it without any equipment. Pull-ups, push-ups, planks, and burpees are a few examples of bodyweight strength training exercises, but there are many more.

Stretching

Many people think that stretching isn't necessary...

They’re mistaken!

Stretching exercises are recommended before beginning your workout because they prepare your body for more advanced exercises.

It also helps reduce the strain on your muscles and joints after a long day of training, lowering your risk of injury.

Conclusion

To summarize, sprinting, bodyweight strength training and stretching are all beneficial for supplementing your parkour training.

Some exercises may resemble parkour techniques, while others may not, and it is up to you to vary your training routine.
